SELF-ASSESSMENT OF HEALTH AND EXERCISE HABITS AMONG PARTICIPANTS IN GUIDED WALKING GROUPS

Client: NGO Kõnnime koos

Period: 2023-2024

The NGO Kõnnime Koos initiates and organizes guided walking groups to support the development and maintenance of regular exercise habits. We assisted them in preparing an overview of how participants in the groups evaluate their health and exercise habits and examined how these evaluations changed after three and six months.

It is encouraging to note that three months after joining, positive changes were observed in participants’ self-assessments: nearly half of the respondents indicated that their well-being improved as a result of participating in the walking group. Additionally, 42% of participants reported increased physical activity, and 39% noted an improvement in physical fitness. Participants emphasized the motivational impact of being part of a pleasant group and the positive effects on their mood.

Even after six months, the percentage of people who reported improved well-being due to the walking groups remained high, with 53% saying their well-being had improved. Furthermore, 47% of participants noted an increase in physical activity, and 41% reported improvements in their physical fitness.
