EPP KALLASTE, PHD
Epp is simultaneously a strong researcher and a capable administrator. She is solution-oriented and out of all the impossible things she focuses on the possible. With her long-term experience she is able to see what the client needs and knows how to offer it. On one hand, it requires the ability and will to immerse herself in details, on the other hand, the ability to see the big picture – this symbiosis of opposites is an inevitable prerequisite to a good project manager. When a project is unraveling and people’s thoughts and ways of approaching are moving in different directions, then Epp is the one who brings the focus back to what’s important. She monitors that everyone is on track and knows how to inspire the right people to do what’s needed at the right time.

JANNO JÄRVE, PHD
Janno is a study architect, who is a part of developing every complicated study methodology and who sets strategies for answering every research question. His innovative way of thinking brings new methodical solutions to Centar. Janno is an optimistic realist – he is happy to tackle seemingly impossible projects and he completes them successfully. His analytical capacity doesn’t only base on knowing data and analysis methods but also on his vast knowledge, as well as being well-read and informed about everything that happens in society. Whether the topic of discussion is a social phenomenon, policy measure or a technical detail of a statistical model – it’s likely that Janno can speak on that topic, add to the discussion and even explain the topic to others in a simple and understandable way.

STEN ANSPAL, PHD
Sten is the one to turn to with challenging econometric methods, simulation models or economic theoretical issues. Sten researches economic effects in different areas – from maritime affairs to taxes. He has read something interesting about almost every topic and can add nuances to every conversation, which place the topic in a slightly different light. Sten’s actions are those of an educated scholar – after thorough mind journeys in peace and quiet, he has a solution to complicated problems at hand.

KATI KADARIK, PHD
Kati brings to Centar the spatial thinking of a human geographer about the functioning of society. Before joining Centar, she worked as a researcher in Uppsala, Tartu, and Amsterdam, where she studied topics such as segregation and integration in urban areas.
INDREK SEPPO
Indrek is a dedicated data visualizer and a passionate data analyst – he could be Estonia’s R-guru. Indrek’s main role in Centar is, therefore, development and delivery of R-training as well as supporting analysis in bigger research projects. If anybody outside the world of research knows about Centar, then it is most probably because they have talked to Indrek. Some of the more important projects Indrek has been involved in in Centar are the assessment of cost-effectiveness of education and infrastructure projects.

MARKO SÕMER
Marko is the one to turn to with all questions regarding data and data analysis – he always finds a solution from his vault of knowledge and can execute it in practice. Whether it be a question about implementing a statistical method, finding the necessary analysis results from data bases containing millions of entries and hundreds of variables or transforming the results into easily communicable data graphic solutions and interactive dashboards. If complicated social phenomena need to modeled in the framework of a study (or for fun), then he will most likely be the architect and the code writer of the model.

LAURA KIVI, PHD
Laura is thorough and systematic and because of that her analyses are logical and well worded. Laura maintains an academic air in Centar. Whether the research topic is labor market measures or the social mobility of immigrants – Laura is able to turn it into an interesting high-quality science article. Laura approaches projects with enthusiasm and finds creative solutions to both fun and challenging tasks. Laura’s creativity is also seen in the seasonal workshops that she organizes for her colleagues, where handiwork from Christmas houses to Easter decorations is created.
ANU RENTEL
Anu has experience in using both quantitative and qualitative research methods and has been professionally exposed to very different fields, such as e-services, social services, media, public transport, satisfaction surveys. As a sociologist, she is primarily interested in people’s thinking and behavior, both in terms of research topics and research methods. Anu has long-term experience in conducting survey research, and in addition, Anu also has a survey client’s view of work in local government.
KAI VÄLBE
Kai is a supporting force for Centar researchers from May 2023. With her extensive expertise in customer satisfaction surveys and proficiency in Russian, Kai serves as an indispensable support to our researchers. She diligently ensures the availability and smooth functioning of survey completion sites while maintaining linguistic accuracy in our researchers’ written work. Additionally, Kai assists in various tasks assigned by research project managers, including fostering client relations and organizing team events.
